She advised professionals seeking a new challenge and hoping to transition in their careers to "not be afraid of the change and just do it". When asked about important skills for working in international development she noted that it is important "to listen to your client " and "learn to build coalitions". Lastly, she emphasized how important it is to help those who are in need. The Washington Foreign Law Society thanks Melissa Johns for participating and sharing her experience
