A joint event of the Washington Foreign Law Society and the D.C. Bar International Law Community.
Even though the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties (VCLT) entered into force in 1980, it was adopted and opened to signature on 23 May 1969. On the 50th anniversary of its adoption we find ourselves in a rapidly changing world with an international system struggling to adapt. The VCLT has enormous implications in different areas of international law, from sustainable development to international commerce, investment and arbitration, from human rights to humanitarian law and international criminal law. Please join us for a retrospective analysis of this important instrument and its impact and relevance today and into the future.
Speaker: Domenico Di Pietro, International Arbitration Professional, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP
